GreenLife Insurance Acquired by Raise Financial Services Broking Private Limited, thereby markingย the companyโs entry into the insurance distribution expansion in India through a cash and stock transaction.
The acquisition grows Raise Financial Servicesโ presence into more general financial services besides capital markets as well as trading as FinTech firms progressively seek to create fully integrated ecosystems centred on investment, saving, loans, and security products. The company said it will make investments ofย $15 million in the business to build a technology-, product design- and customer experience-focused insurance distribution platform for consumers.
Raise runs a number of financial platforms that offer stock trading and investment products, and the decision comes as an increasing trend among FinTech companies to expand into traditional insurance as demand for digital financial services grows. Indiaโs insurance market still offers huge growth opportunities, especially in the underserved Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, with a rise in digital adoption and financial literacy.
GreenLife Insurance Broking is an IRDA-registered insurance broker. It was set up in 2013 and has established relationships with private and public insurers in bothย life and general insurance segments. The company has set up a system of distribution in over 50 cities and towns, especially in eastern and north-eastern India, with an emphasis on distribution of business-to-business insurance.
Post-acquisition, the GreenLife team is going to be part of the Raise ecosystem as the company creates what it defines as a hybrid insurance distribution model that combines digital onboarding alongside advisory-led support.
This deal leading to insurance distribution expansion in India underscores a wider integration across FinTech, wealth management and insurance distribution as financial platforms aim to drive greater consumer engagement by providing multiple financial products in a single digital experience. Insurance is increasingly viewed as a complementary layer to investment and payments for FinTech firms, especially as competitiveness heats up throughout Indiaโs digital financial services sphere.
