American supercenter chain Meijer has partnered with Citi Retail Services to offer private label and co-brand credit card services. The duo signed a long-term agreement, with Citi serving as the exclusive issuer of the credit card from 24th of next month.

Meijer cardholders can make applications for the card from 1 March 2020. Meijer president and CEO Rick Keyes said: โ€œWe believe this new relationship with Citi Retail Services will extend benefits to our customers while also providing them yet another way to shop our stores.โ€

Those using the card will get a $10 discount on their first Meijer purchase. The users will also be entitled to a $10 reward for every $750 spent and 10 cents savings a gallon at Meijer gas stations on a daily basis.

The ultimate aim of the initiative is to boost loyalty among Meijer customers. Citi Retail Services head Craig Vallorano said: โ€œThis retail industry pioneer is a tremendous addition to Citi Retail Servicesโ€™ family of iconic brands, and we look forward to bringing innovative offerings to their customers for years to come.โ€

Meijer is headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The retailer runs over 245 supercentres across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

Last year, Citi collaborated with e-commerce giant Lazada to launch a co-branded credit card in Singapore, Vietnam, and Malaysia. The bank also teamed up with Singaporean ride-hailing company Grab in 2019 to introduce co-branded credit cards.
